Four Tips for Success : How to Get Over a Broken Heart
Many people find getting over a broken heart to be one of the most difficult and stressful things they can ever deal with. It puts immense pressure on you and can cause chaos in your daily life if you let it. At times like this you have to show extreme maturity and self control, conquering your emotions while you learn how to get over a broken heart and survive with your sanity intact. This of course isn’t easy but it can be made easier and here are 4 tips to help you get through it.
1) Keep You Distance
You need to keep your distance from your ex and remove all access, be it physical or non physical. Remove them from social websites you use, your phone and any other media you use to communicate with them. You need to make a complete break from them. Keeping contact with them in whatever way you do it’ll only prolong this painful and difficult process. What’s happening here is you’re grieving but unlike grieving over the death of a loved one you’re grieving for someone that’s still there but out of reach. This is why it’s such an emotional strain. With death you know you cannot see that person anymore and accept that but a break up is hard because a small part of you still hopes and knows you’ll see them again. You have to accept they’re gone for good to get through this.
2) do not Rush It!
Yet another fascinating point relevant to this topic. Give yourself time to get over this situation, allow yourself time off work or take a vacation. Do not burden yourself with other stresses when you already have as much as you can stand. Do not rush the healing process as you run the risk of losing control of your emotions. Take it slow and keep control. But this said; don’t dwell on your loss. Change is hard for us all sometimes but it’s character building. Do not try and change the past but make plans for the future. You do not know what’s around the corner and a new happiness can come along at any time.
3) Get Rid of Physical Reminders

You need to remove all evidence of your relationship. If your ex has possessions at your home, box them up, tape them up and make sure they cannot get out. This is a symbolic psychological process and how to get over a broken heart mentally. Put the box somewhere you cannot easily access it or better still burn it, both methods work fine. Make sure you have removed not just things that remind you of your ex but also anything that reminds you of the relationship.
4) Surround Yourself with Love
Some of the pain we feel when getting over a broken heart is the feeling of not being loved. Obviously, feeling unloved is not healthy for anyone no matter what age, sex or gender. To deal with this you need to surround yourself with people that love you. Friends, family even work colleagues that you know care about you become your emotional crutch and use them to their fullest. They will not mind if they love you, spend time with them as much as possible and avoid negative people. If you find yourself with someone that’s moaning or being negative, make your excuses and leave the area as soon as possible.
If you do these 4 things you’ll keep control of your emotions much easier and survive the healing process. These things take time but if you’re experienced in life you’ll realise that time does really heal and this is how to get over a broken heart and survive with your sanity intact.
